Week 3 of the South Warwickshire Summer Tennis League saw the weather play havoc with the fixture list. Only one out of the four matches in the Premier Division went ahead as torrential rain not only caused the postponement of these fixtures but the beginnings of a backlog in the rest of the league. In the one Premier match played Stratford B took advantage to move up behind their sister side and champions Stratford A into second place with a good win. Bidford-on-Avon pulled away at the top of Division One.
Stratford B were in good form and won all four rubbers in straight sets. Dave Lambert & Steve Protheroe (Stratford B) beat family pair Mike & Chris Langston (Pershore) 6-4, 6-4 and beat Cameron Malik & Ed Bosley (Pershore) 6-1, 6-1. Sam Wilks & Sam Righton (Stratford B) defeated Malik & Bosley 6-1, 7-6 after a tie-break, and beat the Langston pair 6-0, 6-0.
Bidford-on-Avon extended their lead in Division One after another victory 3-1 away to Inkberrow. They lead Littleton by five points with a clash between the two clubs due next week. Littleton themselves had a rest week but stay second. Ardencote made up some ground and moved into third with an excellent 4-0 result over Studley. Chipping Campden moved to fourth with a 4-0 win over Whitnash who stay on the bottom of the table with Inkberrow.
Division Two saw the lead changed as previous leaders Snitterfield enjoyed a rest week. Taking advantage of this were Alcester B and Aston Cantlow who both recorded 3-1 victories, Alcester B over Ullenhall and Cantlow over Littleton B. Stratford C and Claverdon B shared the points in a 2-2 draw.
In Division Three new leaders Studley B race to the top on twelve points thanks to a 4-0 thumping of Wildmoor Spa. Shipston retained second spot with seven points after a resounding win over Henley B. the other contenders Ilmington and Chipping Campden B had their match postponed by rain.
The same two teams stay joint leaders of Division Four after both again enjoyed 4-0 victories. Inkberrow B beat Chipping Campden C 4-0 in straight sets and Moreton-in-Marsh A beat Inkberrow C 4-0. Snitterfield B retained third place on nine points after winning 3-1 against HDA A of Redditch. Pershore B are fourth after beating Alcester C 3-1.
Finally, in Division Five joint leaders Ardencote Manor B and HDA B Redditch stayed on top of the table despite their match against each other being rained off. Moreton-in-Marsh B remained in third despite their match away to Claverdon C also being postponed by rain. However, two teams, Studley C and Bidford B move up to joint third on four points. Studley gained a good 4-0 win away to Henley C while Bidford B grabbed a point despite losing to Wildmoor B 3-1. Those three points are Wildmoor B's first in the league.
