Ex Davis cup player and former world number 130 Andrew Richardson provides an open day of pure class.
Andrew Richardson moved in the highest tennis circles, as he was Tim Henman's tennis partner.
On Saturday over 100 juniors and the Men's and Ladies team members received coaching and tips from the top, with Richardson working on a day of doubles, with communication being key. The day was a great advert for the club and new members who saw Andrew Richardson, all 6 feet 7 inches of him playing on court one, stretching all who played him including a tantalising match to finish. This involved a club coach and first team player Will Mason, 21 (Lincolnshire county player) who lost 6-3 in a one set shoot-out, demonstrating that age is not quite catching up with Richardson, yet! The day was rounded off with Richardson presenting the tennis awards to tennis members who had contributed to the section throughout the year.
Gavin Henderson, the club Tennis Manager stated that he hoped that this is the first of many top classevents featuring world class players coming to the Boat Club, as Richardson himself will continue links with the
club.
