The fourth and final round of Junior Tennis Cup competition Pool matches, for the South Warwickshire & District Summer Tennis League have been completed during the month of June with the result that Henley-in-Arden A, Snitterfi3eld, Chipping Campden A, Stratford-on-Avon. Alcester A and HDA A of Redditch all topped their respective groups and qualify for the Play-Offs at Bidford-on-Avon Tennis Club at 6pm on Monday 8th July, 2013..
In Pool A the Henley A pair Thomas Walsh & Max Beishom again proved too strong for their opposition beating all three teams, Henley C 6-0, Tanworth-in-Arden 6-0 and Claverdon 6-1. They dropped only 4 games in the entire Pool stages in qualifying for the play-offs. Sister side Henley C finished as runners-up in the Pool after their pair of Alex Evans & Henry Smith beat Claverdon 6-3 and Tanworth 6-4. Claverdon claimed third spot when the brother and sister pair Jacob Fenwick & Amelia Fenwick beat Tanworth's Jacob Flower & Robin Mason 6-3.
Pool B'S final night saw hosts Snitterfield confirm their progress to the play-offs with three victories. Their duo of Ben Albrecht & Alex Straker beat Henley B 6-2, and Warwock 6-2, before a nail-biter against Campden's Oscar Roberts & Hugo Hall 7-6 (7-4) on a tie-break. While Chippong Campden B finished up runners-up in the final table they were beaten on the night by Warwick pair Yiannis Vigiardis & Tom Baker 6-2. Warwick also beat Henley's Louis Walsh & Luca Bartlett 6-4.
The final Pool C night was played at Shipston-on-Stour and every team competing won at least one match with no team dominating proceedings. Chipping Campden A came into this final Pool with a 2 point lead in the table and a superior points advantage over second placed Pershore. So at least one win on the night was necessary to maybe clinch the title. It was just as well because that is all they managed with their pairing of Jamie Short & Will Kelley just edging out Shipston 7-6, before losing to challengers Pershore 5-7 and even more surprisingly to Evesham 3-6. Pershore pair Daniel Walker & James Hall beat Evesham 6-4, but lost to Shipston lads Thomas English & Owain Jones 5-7 on a tie-break (4-7). To finish a topsy-turvy night Evesham boys Michael Macleod & Ben Shepherd then beat Shipston 6-1. So Campden just saw off Pershore's challenge by a solitary point to qualify ..
On to Pool D and this Pool was in contrast dominated, as it had been all season, by Stratford-on-Avon. The hosts for the evening, Stratford duo Chris Welland & Sam Breckon confirmed their qualification for the play-offs with maximum points and three more victories and with that finish the Pool stage unbeaten. They defeated Bidford 6-2, Ilmington 6-0 and Littletons 6-3. Bottom of the table Ilmington surprised the other teams as their pair Harry Cronshaw & Ben Wilson beat Bidford 6-3 and Littletons 7-6. Runners-up in the Pool Littletons suffered their worst night as they lost their third match of the evening when their players Callum Bennett & Liam Clear lost to Bidford boys Cavan Farrow & Tom Batts 4-6.
Pool E played at HDA Club courts in Redditch saw the Home side's B Team win all their matches on the night but, Alcester A headed the final table to qualify for the play-offs. Alcester went into this final round leading the table by 17 points to HDA B's 14 and needing just one win to head Pool E. HDA B pair Kota Ueshima & Adam Neale, the 2012 Junior Cup Runners-up, did all they could on the day by beating all three sides. First they beat Alcester C 6-0, then defeated sister side HDA D 6-1, before finally overcoming rivals Alcester A 6-3. The latter team's pair Barnaby Williams & Harry Morley-Cotterell though did enough to claim the Pool title by beating HDA D 6-1 and Alcester C 6-0 which meant they couldn't be caught. Lastly, HDA D duo Eugene Read & Harry Williams beat the Alcester C players Sam Woodger & Sam Mason 6-3/
In the final Pool F another HDA team from Redditch topped this group comfortably ending the Pool stage undefeated. and are the last team to qualify. HDA A pair Joseph Morris & Felix Gill enjoyed victories over HDA E 6-0, HDA C 6-3 and Alcester B 6-1. Sister side HDA C brothers Nathan & Kieran Hawkins overcame Alcester B 6-1 and HDA E 6-0. Finally, Alcester B duo Harvey Williams & Olympius Gougounias beat HDA E pair Will Skelton & Tom Harris 6-2.
