The Warwickshire LTA Performance Challenge competitors were joined by a surprise visitor. Judy Murray turned up at the prize giving and ran an impromptu Q & A session with players. Having signed many autographs Judy then went on to hit with a few lucky youngsters. The event was won by Edgbaston Priory Orange team who beat the University of Warwick in a highly contested final which was won on a cou...nt back. Leamington players achieved fourth place hitting above their weight as one of four clubs achieving entry because of their high numbers of regularly competing juniors. The teams competing included Virgin Active Warwickshire, Sutton Coldfield, both performance clubs, and Rugby, Beechwood and Kenilworth.
The Highland Spring Kids Zone saw a record number of players from schools across Warwickshire experience tennis. Over 800 pupils went home after a fun day of watching and trying tennis with a racket and 3 balls. Alcester Academy Pupils were amongst the many who now have the equipment to continue to play.
