West Warwicks recently held an Open Week End following a very successful cricket event called the Lashings.
The weather was beautiful and the 2 days consisted of activities on the tennis and squash courts, an entertainer and the chance to enter a draw to win free membership of the Club for a year!
Saturday saw a very busy start with all tennis courts full with players of all ages. Steve Hayward ran 2 courts with Cardio tennis for adults with music which made the atmosphere fantastic! Nigel Smith and Joe Singleton ran the junior sessions with help from Leader Hasan Ali.
Sunday lunchtime was quieter but by 2.30pm again all the tennis courts were full of players. Ken Spensley, with help from Leader Charlie Fennell, ran the tots and red sessions and Joe looked after all the older children whilst Steve ran several Rusty Racket sessions for adults interested in starting to play tennis again.
To make it even better the Clubs 9 & under juniors had 3 Orange Aegon matches at home on Sunday and managed to win each one, congratulations to Thomas Robson, James Gardner, Freddie Clift, Thomas Berrow, Alex Crowe, Matthew Hill, Jess Toogood, Jack Pitchford, Daniel Maye and Alex Morrison.
The 14 & under boys Aegon team also had a good win later in the day and congratulations go to Ed Toogood and Haydn Burke.
The clown produced wonderful balloon figures and entertainment all day for the children and visitors could have a drink at the Bar, sit on the balcony and watch the 1st team play a cricket match. Several people enjoyed the food on offer as well. Reception staff Rachel, Caitlin and Hayley worked hard all week end showing people around the Club along with Club Manager Robert Saffery.
