Both open days at Cannon Hill Park & Lordswood Community Tennis Clubwere very successful, with both attracting over 65 juniors each to their respective days, many of which have now signed up to both courses and lessons at Lordswood Community Tennis Club.
The open days were advertised at both primary and secondary schools in the local Birmingham area, by distributing 10,000 fliers. Fliers were also handed out on Harborne and Moseley High Streets in previous weeks. We also placed editorials in The Harborne Times, and an advert in the Primary Times as well as social media, Facebook Twitter etc. All existing club members and players who attend coaching were also invited but are not included in the figures above. A great testament to how advertising such events helps boots numbers and awareness.
During the open days all players took part in activities including ‘Tennis Freestyle,’ tennis coaching, and tennis games, and were given the chance to win mini tennis prizes, such as keyrings, sweets and pens etc as well as fun fitness activities such as relay races, animal movements etc.
As well as junior coaching, existing members came down to meet adults and play with them using mini tennis balls, which make playing the game much easier, and allow beginners to play a real game straight away.
All players attending each day were put in to prize draw to win one of 6 Babolat Rackets, T-shirts and other prizes and a thank you must go to Give it Your Max who make tennis opportunities available for primary school aged children who help was greatly received.
