The second round of Junior Tennis Cup competition Pool matches, for the South Warwickshire Summer Junior Tennis League covering South Warwickshire & District Areas, have been completed during the month of April resulting in Henley-in-Arden A, Snitterfield, Chipping Campden A, Stratford-on-Avon, Alcester A and Redditch side HDA A topping their respective groups.
In Pool A Henley A continued their one hundred per cent record as their pair Max Beishon and Bradley Smith beat Tanworth-in-Arden 6-0, Henley C 6-2 and Claverdon 6-0. Claverdon's Will Ward & Jacob Fenwick were runners up after defeating Henley C in a close match 7-5 and Tanworth 6-2. Finally, Tanworth avoided the wooden spoon as their duo Robin Mason & Harvey Ravenscroft beat Henley C pair Henry Smith & Alex Evans 6-3.
Pool B saw Snitterfield pull three points clear with their team of Alex Straker & Ben Albrecht who triumphed over Chipping Campden B 6-1, Warwick 6-4 and Henley B 6-0. Campden B were runners up on the night but remained third in the table only on points difference after their pair Archie Organ & Jamie Short defeated Henley B 7-6 in a tight match and then Warwick 6-3. Warwick remain in second placed in the Pool B table despite their players Theo Lee & Yiannis Vogiaridis only managing one victory on the night 6-4 over Henley B's Luka Bartlett & Archie Harper.
Chipping Campden A team also moved three points clear in the Pool C table after their pair Jamie Short & James Elliot managed a clean sweep beating Evesham 6-0, Shipston 6-4 and Pershore 6-2. Evesham bounced back as their players Michael Macleod & Ben Shepherd beat Pershore 6-4 and Shipston narrowly 7-5 and in doing so moved off the bottom of the table and above Shipston. Finally, the Perhore pair Daniel Walker & James Hall stay second in the table after they managed the consolation of a 6-3 win over Shipston's Thomas English & Owen Jones.
On to Pool D where Stratford kept their unbeaten record with Chris Welland & Robbie Fitchford racking up three straight wins over Bidford 6-3, Littletons 6-4 and Ilmington 6-1. The matches were all competitive but the Stratford players proved too strong. Littleton duo Craig Witheford & Liam Clear overcame Bidford 6-1 and then Ilmington 6-2 to stay second in the group. Bidford Boys Cavan Farrow & Tom Bates who had battled well all night finally gained a victory 7-6 in the closest of matches over Ilmington's unlucky pair Josh Gibb & Harry Cronshaw.
Pool E saw two Pool Nights played first the rained off match from March which threw up some strange results at Alcester. First Alcester A beat HDA D 6-0 then HDA B 6-1 but lost to Alcester C 1-6. Alcester C themselves went on to beat HDA D 6-0 but then lost to HDA B 3-6. Finally, HDA B made it two wins for them also when they beat HDA D 6-1. After this first round the three teams with two wins each were on 5 points while HDA B were on three points. The April round saw a pecking order emerge as Alcester A's Barnaby Williams & Harry Morley-Cotterell beat first the Redditch sides HDA B 6-1, then HDA D 6-0 and finally Alcester C 6-2. HDA B claimed second spot when their pair Adam Neale & Kota Ueshima defeated Alcester C 6-2 and HDA D 6-1. Lastly, Alcester C pair Sam Woodger & Sam Mason (standing in for Tom Watson who played in the March round) beat HDA D duo Eugene Read & Harry Williams (in for Jamie Brown in the first round) 6-2/
In the final Pool F the Redditch side HDA A team pulled clear at the top. Their Felix Gill & Joseph Morris beat all comers beginning with HDA C 6-0, then Alcester B 6-0 and finally HDA E 6-1. On the night Alcester B were runners-up when their pair Olympios Gougoulias &Charlie Watson beat HDA E 6-3 and squeezed past HDA C 7-6 on a tie-break Finally, HDA C pair James Lord & Eugene Read defeated club mates Will Skelton & Aidan Forrest for HDA E 6-3..
