The South Warwickshire Summer Tennis League, which includes parts of Worcestershire and Gloucestershire played it's second fixtures for the 2013 season. In the Premier Division champions Stratford-on-Avon moved clear at the top after blowing away last week's joint leaders Henley-in-Arden 4-0. The other previous leaders, Alcester and Chipping Campden, drew with each other 2-2. Shipston-on-Stour stay rooted to the bottom after again losing 4-0 this time to Evesham. Finally, Claverdon and Littleton shared the points in a 2-2 draw.
Stratford followed up their opening 4-0 home win over Shipston with an even better 4-0 away victory over Henley. Their top pair Chris Bailey & Ralf Neilson beat Max Retallack & Neil Supperstone (Henley) 6-3, 6-1 and beat D. Taylor & M. Williams 7-5, 6-1. Stratford captain Tim Page & Callum Malik beat Taylor & Williams 6-3, 6-3 and beat Retallack & Supperstone 6-2, 6-0.
Evesham visited Shipston and left with maximum points as their duo Paul Everett & Simon Wall overcame William Welch & Gary Jackson (Shipston) 6-4, 6-3 and beat Andy Botting & James England (Shipston) 7-5, 6-1. John Clarke & Duncan Lowe (Evesham) beat Botting & England 6-2, 6-1 and beat Welch & Jackson 6-1, 6-2.
Claverdon and Littleton cancelled each other out in a 2-2 draw. Visiting team Littleton's top pair of Dave Rudge & Richard Herborn squeezed past Claverdon's Pete Thomas & James Courier only after the closest of tie-break scores 5-7, 6-3, 1-0 (10-8). They then beat Richard Butler & Carsten Astheimer (Claverdon) 6-4, 6-3. However, Chris Elliott & Jack Philpott (Littleton) lost to Butler & Astheimer 2-6, 5-7 and lost to Thomas & Courier 0-6, 0-6.
Last week's winning sides Campden and Alcester had to share the points in another 2-2 draw. Campden captain Geoff Vaughan & partner Ollie Coombes beat both the Alcester pairs, first Tim Kenneally & Gareth Price 6-4, 7-5 and then Will Morley-Cotterell & Matt Fielding 6-1, 7-6. Campden's second pair veteran Ken Dawson & Mark Jepson were unable to emulate their team mates going down 1-6, 6-7 to Morley-Cotterell & Fielding and then 3-6, 3-6 to Price & Coombes.
In Division One with leaders Ardencote Manor having a free week, Inkberrow leapt to the top with a 4-0 victory over Bidford-on-Avon. Pershore also moved up to second after their 4-0 win over Alcester B. Studley scored their first points of the season with a 3-1 result over Aston Cantlow.
Division Two early leaders Stratford B with no fixture were replaced by Snitterfield after they beat Claverdon B 4-0. Both Studley B with a 4-0 win over Shipston B and Campden B, held to a 2-2 draw by Whitnash, moved up to joint second.
Division Three saw Moreton-in-Marsh retain top spot with a 4-0 defeat of Littleton B. Inkberrow B stayed second by beating Ilmington 3-1. Meanwhile HDA Redditch moved to third after their 3-1 win over Henley B. FISSC had a free week.
Division Four saw Ardencote B take a clear lead by another resounding 4-0 win over Snitterfield B. Wildmoor Spa stay firmly in second with a 4-0 victory over Claverdon C. Pershore bounced back from their opening defeat to beat HDA Redditch B Team 3-1. Alcester C had no fixture.
In the final Division Five Campden C remained at the top of the table despite being held to a 2-2 draw with Moreton B. Studley C stay second on 4 points even without a fixture this week, but are joined by Bidford B despite their defeat to Inkberrow C 1-3. Lastly Henley C recovered from last week's defeat to beat Wildmoor B 3-1.
