Wildmoor Spa Tennis League - South Warks. Junior Cup - April Round

The second April round of Junior Tennis Cup competition Pool matches of the Wildmoor Spa Tennis League for the South Warwickshire & District have been completed with the same teams topping their Pools.  They are HDA B Redditch in Pool A, Snitterfield in Pool B, Pershore in Pool C, Stratford-on-Avon in Pool D and HDA A Redditch in Pool E.

Pool A saw two matches, first their rain postponed March fixture and then the April Pool Night.  Both these saw HDA B from Redditch emerge victorious.  In the first encounter played at Henley-in-Arden the Redditch pair Morgan French & Josh Turner beat Claverdon 6-1, Henley A 6-4 and finally sister side HDA E 6-0.  Henley boys Alex Evans & Louis Walsh bounced back to beat HDA E 6-0 and Claverdon 6-0.  In the final match Claverdon girls’s Eva Ward & Millie Fenwick did well to overcome HDA E lads Will Parry & Joe Hembry in an extremely close clash 7-6 (7-5) after a tie-break. On to their second Pool Night played at Redditch club HDA and the same two HDA B lads Morgan French & Josh Turner dominated again beating HDA E 6-0, Claverdon 6-2 and Henley A 6-0 to top the pool.  Henley A sit second after their duo Louis Walsh this time paired with Henry Smith defeated Claverdon 6-0 and then HDA E 6-0.  The final match saw the Claverdon girls go third by again beating Will Harry with new partner Tom Williams 6-2.

Pool B played at Chipping Campden saw Snitterfield top their group again when their pair Ben Albrecht & Gwilym Davies defeated the other three sides again. They defeated Henley B 6-3, then hosts Campden B 6-3 and finally Warwick 6-2.  Home pair for Chipping Campden B Oscar Roberts & Archie Organ beat Warwick 6-3 and then beat last month’s runners-up Henley B 6-2 and in doing so took over their second spot in the table.  In the last game Henley B pair Alex Didlick & Archie Harper just beat Warwick duo of Theo Lee with new partner Lydia Mitchell 7-5.

Evesham hosted Pool C but Pershore dictated the play when in their three-team Pool their players Daniel Walker & Antony Fordham beat Evesham 10-2 and Campden 10-1 in this extended game format due to Shipston dropping out.  Evesham duo Ben Shepard & new partner Emmanuel Winstone beat Campden pair Archie Griffiths & Edward Meats 10-2.

Pool D saw Stratford again cruise to victory in all three of their matches as Fraser Carr & Harry Morley-Cotterell overwhelmed first Bidford, then Ilmington both without dropping a game 6-0 and were awarded a 6-0 walkover Littletons whose team fell ill and were unable to play.  Bidford boys Adam Farrow & Alfie Lovell took second place in the Pool table by retaining their lead over hosts Ilmington on games difference, despite going down to Ilmington’s Harry Cronshaw & new partner Ed Righton 7-5.  Both Bidford and Ilmington had a 6-0 walkover the Littletons side.

In the final Pool E played at Redditch the HDA A pair, last year’s champions Joseph Morris & Felix Gill, maintained their one hundred percent record when they defeated HDA D 6-0,   HDA C 6-0 and finally Alcester 6-0.  HDA C pair Eugene Read with new partner Joe Hollier surprised Alcester by beating them 6-3 and then HDA D 6-3.  Alcester pair James Clemons & Harvey Williams took some consolation in beating Tom Harris & Greg Cook of HDA D 6-4. In doing so Alcester hung on to second place over HDA C but only on games difference.
