Wildmoor Spa Tennis League - South Warks. Junior Cup - June Round

The fourth and final round of Junior Tennis Cup competition Pool matches of the Wildmoor Spa Tennis League for the South Warwickshire & District have been completed during the month of June with the same teams topping their Pools.  They are HDA B Redditch in Pool A, Snitterfield in Pool B, Pershore in Pool C, Stratford-on-Avon in Pool D and HDA A Redditch in Pool E  Also qualifying as the best runner-up in Pool A is Henley A..

Pool A fixture was played at HDA Tennis Club, Redditch but saw Henley-in-Arden A Team dominate the evening for a change.  Their pair of Louis Walsh & Alex Evans beat all comers on the night starting with HDA E 6-0, Claverdon 6-1 and finally table toppers HDA B 6-1.   HDA B still finished as Pool leaders with 23 points to Henley’s 21 but this performance lifted Henley to a qualifying place in the Semi-Final Play-Offs as the best Pool runner-up.  HDA B pair Morgan French & Harvey Ravenscroft went on to beat Claverdon 6-0 and HDA E 6-0.   Finally, HDA E pair Jasmine Bwail & Kiyyah Grant overcame Claverdon girls Eva Ward & Millie Fenwick in a close match 7-6.

Pool B’s final night played at Snitterfield saw mixed results as three of the four teams won two matches each.  The hosts duo Gwilym Davis & Harry Clifton topped the group to qualify for the play-offs thanks mainly to earlier results.  On the night Snitterfield defeated Chipping Campden B 6-4 and Warwick 6-4 but went down to Henley-in-Arden B 2-6.  Henley B pair, apart from that victory, Archie Harper & Alex Didlick also edged out Warwick 6-2 but lost to Chipping Campden 3-6. Campden boys Oscar Roberts & Archie Organ, after that 6-3 victory over Henley B and the previously mentioned 4-6 loss to Snitterfield, managed to beat Warwick boys Jamie Jaevons & Tommy Baker 6-1. 

Pool C had finished their fixtures in May due to having only three teams with the drop out of Shipston-on-Stour.  So the final Pool C table saw Pershore pair Antony Fordham & Dan Walker top the table with 12 points, with Evesham second on 9 points and Chipping Campden A third with 6 points.

Pool D saw hosts Stratford qualify with the most dominant lead of all junior teams of seven points.  Their duo of Fraser Carr & Joseph Pinnock also managed to win all three of their matches 6-0 over Bidford-on-Avon, 6-1 against Ilmington and 7-5 in a close match against their nearest challengers Littletons.  The latter club’s pair Liam Clear & Callum Bennett were second on the night beating both Ilmington 6-0 and Bidford 6-0.  In fact had they not defaulted ther one Pool night in April, unable to raise a team, they would likely have qualified for the play-offs as the best runners-up instead of Henley A from Pool A.  In the remaining Pool D match Bidford boys Adam Farrow & Alfie Lovett defeated Ilmington’s Ed Righton & Charlie Dews 6-3. 

In the final Pool E played at Redditch the HDA A pair, last year’s champions Joseph Morris & Felix Gill, continued to dictate the play and in doing so topped the Pool and qualified for the play-offs, maintaining their one hundred percent record.  They beat HDA D Team 6-0,   HDA C 6-0 and finally Alcester 6-1.  Alcester pair James Clemons & Harvey Williams finished third in the group, but second on the night, defeating HDA D 6-2 and HDA C 6-1.  In the final match HDA C pair Greg Cook & Joe Hollier beat fellow club members Tom Williams & Will Parry representing HDA D 6-1.
