Wildmoor Spa Tennis League - South Warks. Junior Cup - May Round

The third round of Junior Tennis Cup competition Pool matches of the Wildmoor Spa Tennis League for the South Warwickshire & District have been completed during the month of May with the same teams topping their Pools.  They are HDA B Redditch in Pool A, Snitterfield in Pool B, Pershore in Pool C, Stratford-on-Avon in Pool D and HDA A Redditch in Pool E.

Pool A saw their May Pool Night played at Claverdon and once again saw HDA B of Redditch dominate.  The Redditch pair Morgan French & Josh Turner beat hosts Claverdon 6-0, sister side HDA E 6-0 and finally nearest challengers Henley A in an extremely close match 7-6 (7-5) on a tie-break.  Henley boys Alex Evans & Louis Walsh recovered from that defeat to beat HDA E 6-3 and Claverdon 6-2.  Henley are the only side capable statistically of catching HDA B for the Pool A title.  In the final match the HAD E lads Harvey Ravenscroft & Joe Hollier defeated the Claverdon girls’s Eva Ward & Millie Fenwick 6-2.

Pool B was played at Henley-in-Arden Tennis Club where Snitterfield completed another clean sweep of the opposition when their pair Ben Albrecht & Gwilym Davies beat Campden B 6-2, Warwick 6-4 and finally, hosts Henley B 6-2.  Runners up in this group Chipping Campden B boys Oscar Roberts & Archie Organ came back to overcome Henley B’s Henry Smith & Archie Harper 7-5 in a close encounter and then beat Warwick 6-2.  In the last match Warwick pair Tommy Baker & Rhys Morgan beat their Henley B hosts 6-1.  These results mean that provided Snitterfield turn up for their last Pool matches they will be crowned Pool B champions.

Pershore hosted Pool C and continued their undefeated run thanks to their duo of Antony Fordham & Dan Walker.  In this three-team Pool their players they beat Evesham 10-1 and Campden 10-1 with this extended game format due to Shipston dropping out at the beginning of the season.  Evesham boys Michael McCloud & Emmanuel Winstone beat Campden pair Archie Griffiths & new partner Will Sweeney 10-1.

Pool D saw Stratford stay top but were upstaged by hosts Littleton who cruised to victory in all three of their matches.  Their lads Callum Bennett & Lewis Osborne proved too strong beating first Ilmington 6-0, then Bidford 6-2 and finally, table toppers Stratford 6-2.  Unfortunately because they were unable to attend last months matches due to illness they have forfeited any chance of winning the group.  Stratford however, are looking favourites as their duo Fraser Carr & new partnet Joseph Pinnock went on to beat Bidford 6-1 and Ilmington 6-0.  In the final match Bidford boys Adam Farrow & Alfie Lovell had a competitive match against Ilmington before they beat their pair Gilkes Sharratt & Edward Righton 6-4 to remain in second place in the Pool D table.

In the final Pool E played at Redditch the HDA A pair, last year’s champions Joseph Morris & Felix Gill, dictated the play maintaining their one hundred percent record when they defeated HDA D 6-0,   HDA C 6-1 and finally Alcester 6-0.  HDA C pair Harvey Ravenscroft & Matt Anderson again beat Alcester by beating them 6-3 and then HDA D 6-1 to stay second in the table.  Alcester pair James Clemons & Harvey Williams went down again to Greg Cook & Harvey Rae of HDA D 6-3.
