Wildmoor Spa Tennis - Junior Cup May Round

The third (May) round of Junior Tennis Cup competition Pool matches of the Wildmoor Spa Tennis League for the South Warwickshire & District Area have been completed with the same teams topping their Pools as in April.  They are Henley-in-Arden A in Pool A, Evesham in Pool B, Stratford-upon-Avon in Pool C, and HDA A of Redditch in Pool D.

Pool A was hosted by Henley-in-Arden and their A pair Alex Evans & Louis Walsh opened with a resounding 6-0 win over Alcester.  They then emerged victors from a close match against an HDA Redditch B Team 6-4.  Finally, they overcame their sister side Henley B in another close game 6-4 to stay two points clear at the top.  The chasing pair HDA B’s Joe Hollier & Owen Perry recovered from their close defeat to Henley A to beat contenders Henley B 6-4 and then Alcester 6-3.  In the last group game Henley B boys Alex Didlick & James Price gave themselves an outside chance of qualifying by beating Alcester pair Adam Haerle & Luke Clements 6-1 leaving them three points off the leaders.

Pool leaders Evesham played host in Pool B and continued their winning ways.  Their duo of Ben Shepherd & Emmanuel Winston beat Campden B 6-1, Campden A 6-0 and finally Pershore 6-2 to top the table by three points and looking favourites to qualify for the play-offs.  Pershore again easily claimed second place with their players Dan Fishbourne & Aaron Mashi beating Campden A 6-0 and Campden B 6-0.  The best match came last as Campden A juniors Will Smith & Alex Theo edged out their B team side Harry Jeavons & Finn Watkins 7-5.

On to Pool C played at Littletons Tennis Club.  This is the tightest group at the top as previously the hosts Littletons had been challenging the leaders Stratford.  However, the latter pair of Joseph Pinnock & William Noyes overcame all opposition comfortably beating Ilmington 6-0, Bidford 6-2 and Littletons 6-3.  Even so this only gives them a single point lead in the table and left the door open still for Littletons.  The  Littletons players Callum Bennett & Liam Clear, aware they were still in the running, bounced back to beat Bidford 6-0 and Ilmington 6-2.  Bidford boys Adam Farrow & Alfie Lovell claimed a consolation 6-0 victory over Ilmington pair Fred Barnard & Sam Pitteckersil.

Finally Pool D was played at HDA Tennis Club in Redditch and saw HDA A again cruise to victory in all three of their matches as Harvey Ravenscroft & Scott Mortimer dominated to beat HDA C 6-2, HDA D 6-2 and then HDA E 6-0.  HDA C girls Paulina Jurkowska & Latesha Grant defeated HDA D 6-2 and HDA E 6-1.  Finally, HDA D pair Kiyyah Grant & Jasmine Bwail beat HDA E’s Greg Cook & Aaron Bwail 6-2.  .
