The "Fair Play Plate" Award 2016
The "Fair Play Plate" has been awarded for the fifth year by the Wildmoor Spa Summer Tennis League which covers South Warwickshire and areas of Worcestershire and Gloucestershire. This is voted on by all the teams from the six divisions. It is decided by votes from the league teams on which side in their opinion they felt was the most convivial both on and off the court and for their after match hospitality. It has nothing to do with their playing ability, just their friendliness, conduct and entertaining abilities and crosses all divisions.
In 2012 Inkberrow C were given this honour, in 2013 it was HDA B of Redditch and in 2014 it was the turn of Chipping Campden C to be recognised, all three teams from Division Four. Last year there were joint the winners of Bidford-on-Avon and Inkberrow D from Divisions Four and Five respectively. Of the the 48 teams circulated 34 votes were received back. There were 22 teams nominated from all divisions with Claverdon A, Evesham A and Stratford A from the Premier, Aston Cantlow from Division Two, Inkberrow B & C from Division Three, Warwick from Division Four and Bidford A from Division Five all receiving two votes each.
However, the only team which received more votes was Ardencote Manor B from Division One and this team were given a clear majority of five votes. So congratulations go to the winners and recipients of the Fair Play Award for 2016 Ardencote Manor B Team. They will be presented, with the trophy at the Annual Presentation day on Sunday, September 4th, at the Wildmoor Spa & Health Club, Alcester Road, Stratford-on-Avon.
