Henley Annual Report 2015/6

Highlights of a successful 2015 season for Henley-in-Arden Tennis Club included their Open Day in May and continuing successes with their Junior Membership. These were described by Acting Chairman Nicola Devaney at the Club’s AGM.

The Open Day was held as part of the national Great British Tennis Weekend and was supported by many members and nearly fifty visitors, who took advantage of the free tennis with their families and friends. Cardio Tennis and various tournaments (including parent and child and juniors) were held and a new Tennis Xpress course was announced as well as a weekly session for girls of 8 and over, which has proved very popular.

Coaching adult Members and Juniors has always been a priority at the Club, which now has two level 4, four level 3, one level 2 and five level 1 coaches. The numbers in our junior section remain high with an amazing 37 Hedgehogs (5 and under).  The Club has entered more junior mini-tennis leagues than ever before and, in all, the Club runs 36 different group coaching sessions for adults and juniors throughout the week.

The Club aims to provide a good balance between social and competitive play with first class facilities. Social tennis and other activities continued throughout the year and the men’s, ladies and mixed teams competed effectively. The Clubhouse and courts are looking great!

The draw for Wimbledon tickets will take place on 6th April. This will be open to all Members over the age of 9 – however, to be able to enter, you must have paid your subscription for 2016 and have “opted-in” on the LTA website.
