The third (May) round of Junior Tennis Cup competition Pool matches of the Wildmoor Spa Tennis League for the South Warwickshire & District Area have been completed with a slight change to the teams topping their Pools in May. They are now Henley-in-Arden A in Pool A, Littletons A in Pool B, Bidford-on-Avon in Pool C, and HDA A of Redditch in Pool D.
In Pool A, hosted in Redditch by HDA B, the hosts stole Henley A’s thunder by winning all three matches and moving to within one point of the Pool leaders. The HDA B pair Joe Hollier & Owen Perry beat Henley B 6-2, then Warwick 6-1, before surprising Henley A to beat them 6-3. Henley A duo of Alex Didlick & James Price did managed to win their other two matches, 6-1 over Warwick and 7-5 over Henley B. Finally in Pool A, Henley B juniors Jude Jones & Elliott Saltmarsh overcame Warwick pair Chris Hearn & Laurence Crossley 6-2.
Pool B was played at Littletons Tennis Club and saw fortunes and the leaders of the Pool change from the April Round with hosts Littletons A undefeated. The results meant that Littletons A overtook Campden A at the top to lead by one point. Littletons A’s brothers Oliver Medley & Jacob Medley emerged victors over Littletons B 6-4, Campden B 6-1 and previous leaders Campden A 7-5 after a close encounter. Campden A team JJ. Coleman & Teresa Doran did bounce back to beat Campden B 6-0 and Littletons B 6-2 to give this Pool an exciting finish. Littletons B pair Daniel Reynolds & Frasier Bennett overcame Campden B duo Jo Lindner & Alex Alexiou 6-2.
Pershore hosted Pool C but the leaders remained Bidford-on-Avon. Bidford boys Adam Farrow & Alfie Lovell again overpowered all three opponents starting with Stratford-on-Avon 6-1, then hosts Pershore 6-4, before defeating Evesham 6-3. Pershore pair Sam Butts & Alfie Hoyle celebrated another close victory over Evesham 7-5, as last month, in a repeated terrifically close encounter. They then went on to comfortably beat Stratford 6-0 to retain second spot in the table. Evesham duo Joseph Williams & Jamie Woodcock beat Stratford and their pair Elliott Baxter & Alfie Hoyle 6-1.
Finally Pool D was played at HDA Tennis Club Redditch and saw HDA A again cruise to victory in all three of their matches as last year’s champion pairing of Harvey Ravenscroft & Scott Mortimer overcame all opposition Alcester A, Alcester B and Ilmington. They did have a better fight this time before defeating Alcester A only 7-5, then Alcester B 6-2, before overpowering Ilmington 6-0. Alcester A boys moved up to within a point of their sister side Alcester B in the table when their pair Luke Clemons & Adam Harley beat Alcester B 6-2 and then beat Ilmington 6-0. Alcester B’s Chris Hillman & Charlie Darby stay second thanks to beating Ilmington’s Ben Law & Oli Gibb 6-3.
