Wildmoor Spa Tennis League Fair Play Plate 2017

The Wildmoor Spa Summer Tennis League has awarded the “Fair Play Plate” for the sixth year. This league covers South Warwickshire and areas of Worcestershire and Gloucestershire.  The award is voted on by all the teams from the six divisions and is decided by votes from the league teams on which side in their opinion they felt was the most convivial both on and off the court and for their after match hospitality.  It has nothing to do with their playing ability, just their friendliness, conduct and entertaining abilities and crosses all divisions.

In 2012 Inkberrow C were given this honour, in 2013 it was HDA B of Redditch and in 2014 it was the turn of Chipping Campden C to be recognised, all three teams from Division Four.  In 2015 there were joint the winners of Bidford-on-Avon A and Inkberrow D from Divisions Four and Five respectively and finally in 2016 it was Ardencote Manor B Team of Division One.  Of the 47 teams circulated 34 votes were received back.

There were 18 teams nominated from all divisions with Stratford A (3), Ardencote A (2), and HDA Redditch A (1) from the Premier Division; Claverdon A (2), Ardencote B (1) and Snitterfield A (1) from Division One; Henley B (1) and Snitterfield B (1) from Division Two; Aston Cantlow (3) from Division Three; Bidford B (2), Bidford A (1), Moreton A (1) and Moreton B (1) from Division Four; and finally, Shipston B (1) and Wildmoor B (1) from Division Five.

However, the only teams that received a clear majority of four votes were Littleton A from Division One, Claverdon C from Division Three and Inkberrow D from Divison Five, the latter side winners for the second time.  Therefore, congratulations must go to these three joint winners and recipients of the Fair Play Award for 2017.  They will all be presented, with the trophy at the Annual Presentation day on Sunday, September 3rd, 2017 at the Wildmoor Spa & Health Club, Alcester Road, Stratford-on-Avon, and each will hold the trophy for four months before passing it on to the next recipients.
