WLTA WINTER 2016/17 FINALS
The Winter finals, held at the Billesley Centre on Sunday 23 April, commenced with the Helen Cole Ladies doubles between Edgbaston Archery and Edgbaston Priory playing alongside the Mens Doubles, again between Edgbaston Archery and Solihull Tennis.
Edgbaston Archery emerged the winners in both events – in the `Helen Cole’ by 5 sets to 3 and in the Mens by 7 sets to 1. This proved to be the only victory for Tom Barton, who featured in three events for two clubs, namely Edgbaston Archery and Beechwood.
The Mixed League was won 8 sets to 0 by Edgbaston Priory, and the Mixed `Challenge’ Cup by Blossomfield 2 sets to 0 – in both events defeating Beechwood.
Warwickshire Chairman, Sherrie Meaking, presented the trophies for all except the `Helen Cole’ Cup, which was awarded by Helen’s daughter, Christine.
A successful day, particularly for the two Edgbaston clubs, though Edgbaston Archery wrestled the trophy held for the past two years by Edgbaston Priory in two of the three events .
