An early reminder TO PUT IN YOUR DIARIES that this year’s annual April Open Age(AGE 11&OVER)Male & Female Singles, plus for the third time Male & Female Doubles, starts on Sat March 31 2018 & finishes on Sat April 14 2018. Full details are given below. THIS IS A TOURNAMENT FOR PLAYERS OF ALL AGES & STANDARDS. YOU PLAY WITHIN YOUR STANDARD.
The Singles tournament has been running for 32 years.
You will see from the details below that in the singles event you only play for a small part of the event with lowest standard players playing first. As the start this year falls on the Easter BH weekend I will as far as possible operate a draw which will enable players rated 10.2-8.1 to play as far as possible that weekend &/or on Easter Monday.

(Grade 3&6)
March 31-APRIL 14 2018
This is a singles knockout tournament for players of all standards aged 11+ at 31/08/2018.
This year for the second time there will also be Male & Female Doubles Events.
Singles Tournament details are as follows:
Players will be divided into progressive draws according to their rating with the semi-finalists of each draw going forward to the next highest draw. The final draw(Tableau) will be a Grade 3 event. The earlier draws will be Grade 6 and act as qualifying draws for the Grade 3 Draws.
Weather permitting all entrants, except Mens tableau & Ladies tableau semi- finalists, will play in a consolation draw which will follow on from the draw in which they lose. All players will therefore have a minimum of 2 matches & in most cases 3 matches.
Lowest rated players will play their first matches on Saturday March 31 with higher rated players coming into the tournament as it progresses (see below for details of likely schedule). There is some flexibility as to when you play if you let me know your availability in advance.
You play your first match with new balls & keep the balls when you lose as a bonus. All finalists, including consolation draws, receive a prize.
Matches will be played during the daytime at weekends as far as possible but could be scheduled in a weekday evening if weather causes a delay.
Grade 6 draws for Male players rated 10.2-8.1 & Female players rated 10.2-9.1will be best of 3 sets, 1st 2 sets to 4 with a match tie break 3rd set.
Main Draw Grade 3 Matches will be best of 3 sets, 1st 2 sets to 6 with a match tie break 3rd set. Consolation. Draws will be best of 3 sets, 1st 2setsto 4 with a match tie break 3rd Set.
Each draw, including consolation draws, will have its own final.

March 31-April 1 Male Ratings 10.2/10.1 Female Ratings 10.2/10.1/9.2-Grade 6 events
April 1-2 Male Ratings 9.2-8.1, Female Ratings 9.2-9.1 –Grade 6 events
April 7/8,14 Male Ratings Tableau 7.2+, Female Ratings Tableau 8.2+ -Grade 3 events
Doubles Events details are as follows;

The events will be a knockout final stage. If there are sufficient numbers the first stage will be round robin sections.
So far as possible the doubles events will be played & completed over the weekend of April 7/8 2018
