2013 was a landmark year for British Tennis. This summer is set to be even bigger with a nation of watchers set to become a nation of players thanks to a series of free and fun events for families set to hit the UK. The Great British Tennis Weekend will see over 1,000 venues across Britain open their doors for a series of four weekends – inspiring over 50,000 men, women and children to pick up a racket and hit the court – for free

Anyone who comes to Stocksbridge Tennis Club will be able to get involved in organised games, coaching, Mini tennis and Cardio tennis…all completely free. Rackets and tennis balls will be provided so anyone and everyone can get involved whether they’ve never tried tennis before, want to get back into the game or are a regular player.  Book a session at www.stocksbridgetennisclub.org.uk or just come along on the day.

Martin Jackson, Chair of Stocksbridge Tennis Club “We are really excited to be running an open day as part of the Great British Tennis Weekend. Last year the club did a massive amount of fundraising to save and improve the courts and this is a great chance to try them out and find out what a great sport tennis is for all ages and abilities.”

In addition, the tennis club is starting 6-weekly sessions in Cardio Tennis and Tennis Xpress and you don’t have to be a member to take part.  The sessions are free if you’re 11 – 25 yrs old or for those over 25s it’s £21 for the 6 weeks.  Cardio Tennis starts on Friday 23 May, 6- 7:30pm and is a fun, sociable group fitness class set on a tennis court and supported by motivating music and qualified instructors.  Tennis Xpress starts on Saturday 24 May, 9.30 - 11am where you can learn to play tennis in six weeks with slower low compression balls.  Places are limited and you can book your place on these sessions at www.stocksbridgetennisclub.org.uk.
