Successful Day at Stocksbridge Tennis Club for the Great British Tennis Weekend

Stocksbridge Tennis Club had a busy day recently when it opened its doors as part of the Great British Tennis Weekend.  The Great British Tennis Weekend is an initiative run by the LTA (Lawn Tennis Association) that encourages venues across the country to open their doors for a series of free weekend tennis events.

Nearly 150 people turned up to Stocksbridge Tennis Club at the first open day in May and people took part in a range of tennis activities, such as Cardio tennis and fun mini-tennis games for children.  The idea behind the events are to encourage and inspiring people to pick up a racket and hit the court for free.

Anne Postlethwaite, Membership Officer at Stocksbridge Tennis Club says “We were amazed by the response to our open day and the courts were busy all day with families and individuals joining in on the courts.  The event is a great way for people to come along and try tennis, see the club and find out about the sessions we run, many of which you can take part in without being a member.  We hope that our next open day with be as popular”.

The next Great British Tennis Weekend open day at the club is on Sunday 14 June, 10am – 4pm.  As before, there’s no need to book, just come along and join in. Rackets and balls will be provided and absolutely anyone can get involved.
