Watch a video of what to expect from a Regional Talent ID day including clips of the various evaluations carried out during the day.
Regional Talent ID takes place twice a year (once per season) and provides the best opportunity for the Talent & Performance Managers (TPMs) to gather a number of talented tennis players all in one centre at the same time. These days are held for players aged 8 and 9 only.
The structure of a Regional Talent ID day is very similar to a National Talent ID day, including physical and tennis evaluations during the day. Players will attend one day in ther region and afterwards, receive a report with detailed information relating to their performance and areas to work on with their coach.
The Regional Talent ID Day is a good chance for players, parents and coaches to see how they are progressing compared with their peers and it is important to have the long term development of the player in mind at all times. Being at a Regional ID day already indicates that a child is playing at a very high standard.. The LTA system is run twice a year to allow an ongoing monitoring of players and to allow opportunities for everyone.
Long term development is vital and the specific evaluations are designed to measure where a child’s level is currently as well as their future potential. Fitness, agility, co-ordination, technique, matchplay, determination and attitude are all monitored and feedback on all of these areas is available if requested from the TPM or Regional Performance Coordinator (RPC).
