GDT would like to invite you to take part in the tennis leader’s course at Caversham Park tennis club during February half term.
Your first step towards a career in tennis or sport is Tennis Leaders. Even if you don’t think you want to work in sport, becoming a Tennis Leader will provide you with lots of skills, experience and knowledge that will help you when applying for courses, universities and even on your CV when you apply for your first job.
The GDT Tennis Leader Programme provides practical and real work experience for anyone interested in sports coaching and childcare. The programme incorporates the LTA Tennis Leaders Award meaning you will gain the Sports Leaders UK Level 1 Coaching Assistant Award as part of the programme.
Becoming a Tennis Leader
Tennis Leaders is aimed at 13 years plus and the content is suitable for older juniors just starting out on the tennis career pathway through to adult volunteers looking to support their local coach, referee or club official. Through sessions assisting the coaches, guidance and development from the staff team and delivery of your own plans, you will develop the skills and confidence needed to become a leader.
When is the next Leaders Course?
We are running our next Tennis Leaders courses as follows at Caversham Park:
Tuesday 18th – Thursday 20th February 2014
Each course runs for 3 days (Tues-Thurs) and all three days must be attended. It is not possible to attend two days of one course and then do your third day a different week. Start time each day is 9.30am finishing at 1pm. After 1pm, it is suggested that Leaders have lunch and then either volunteer to help with the tennis camp or alternatively they can play matches with each other until 3pm.
Cost of the course is £60.
We run the course alongside our tennis camps, which allows Leaders to get immediate experience and put things into practice, which is one of the best ways of learning. During this time you will benefit from working alongside the GDT Coaching Team, who have years of experience working with all ages and abilities.
