Liverpool Tennis Centre Enjoys New Lease of Life!

Wednesday, December 10, 2014

Liverpool Tennis centre is enjoying a new lease of life with a new tennis programme, coaching team and competition schedule. In October, Dave Hillier was appointed as the new Tennis Manager for Liverpool City Council and has been tasked with increasing participation at the six-court indoor venue at Wavertree Sports Park.

With a new coaching team in place, there are increasing numbers of adults, children and attending weekly coaching sessions. In addition, there are now regular opportunities for players from across the region to compete in monthly indoor Mini Tennis Competitions and Junior ratings Events, which are already proving very popular.

“We are at the start of a long journey to get Liverpool Tennis Centre back on the map” said David Hiller. “Over the next three years, we are looking to significantly increase the number of people playing tennis in Liverpool and the indoor centre has a major role to play in growing tennis participation in the city”.

“We are offering more competitions for player from across the region and we will also be running more coach education courses and team events that will help tennis coaches and players from Lancashire and Cheshire. We are also looking to significantly develop our links with local schools to introduce as many children to the sport as possible”.

All the venue’s competitions are now available for online entry via the LTA website and players are already travelling to Liverpool from across the North for the competition.
