Congratulations to Nottinghamshire’s Millie Mae Matthews on winning the Consolation event of the 14U Girls Nike Junior Nationals Championships which took place at the Nottingham Tennis Centre this week. She beat Suffolk’s Harriet Petley 6-3; 6-4 in the consolation final.
Two other Notts girls were eligible to take part in this National event. Anna Buckley progressed to the second round in the main draw of the 14U girls singles to be beaten by the eventual winner, Holly Staff from Lancashire. Livvy Tomkins, in the 18U Girls singles, was beaten in the first round in a close three set match v Oliver Peet again from Lancashire, but progressed the semi finals of the 18U Girls Doubles event, playing with Alisha Reayer from Berkshire.
