Congratulations to all the team for an excellent first season in the First Division.
Thanks also to Todd at David Lloyds West Bridgford for arranging the courts and the practices. We kept the same team throughout the season which helped our consistency in tight matches. At the half way stage we were top of Division One which was quite an achievement as the opposition were fielding European tournament winners and ex Danish professionals. We narrowly lost to Middlesex (away), won both our home matches against Kent and Hampshire and beat Lancashire away. Our final match was against Surrey (away) who fielded their strongest team and the host club went to the trouble of advertising the GB Div 1 match on their website, inviting their sponsors to lunch during the match and putting on a splendid spread after the match!
The squad was Tony Alexander and Pete Whitehead playing the singles and Russ Blenkinsop and Tim Phillips playing the doubles.
