MENS 50 + VETERANS
MATCH REPORT 2015 SEASON
Having gained promotion last Season to Division 1, this season started with a difficult away fixture to a strong Leicestershire Team and where despite our best endeavours and some hard fought matches we lost 0 -5.
We followed this with an exciting and nail biting home match with Devon and where at 2 – 2 in rubbers and one set all in the last match on court the result was decided by a 10 point tie break, Tim Phillips and Steve Wallace narrowly losing and frustratingly their second 10 point tie break defeat that day – note from the Captain to Tim and Steve to practice their tie breaks ahead of next year!!
These two matches proved to be the highlights of the season, Hampshire arrived with just 3 players due a mix up on their transport arrangements such that two rubbers were conceded and we won 4 – 1, thanks though to Nick Shelvey for becoming an honorary Hampshire player for the afternoon so that all the rubbers could get played.
Our other two fixtures away to Kent and Essex were conceded due to difficulties over team selection and travelling.
In my final season as Captain my thanks once again go to the Team Members for their support - Peter Whitehead, Tim Phillips, Steve Wallace, Rob Cree and Richard Brannam.
