The remaining 24 teams in the AEGON Team Tennis Schools Senior Students competition are assembling at Bolton Arena this weekend for the 2010/11 Finals.
Teams will compete in a round robin format over Friday 18th to Sunday 20th March with a final taking place in each of the boys, girls and mixed events. The competition is unique in that it is only open to players in years 11, 12 or 13 at schools and further education colleges with a British Tennis rating no better than 7.1.
Over 250 teams entered the competition in September and competed in localised round robin groups. The winners of these groups qualified for the knockout stages in January which take place on a regional level. In the boys' event, both the number 1 and number 2 seeds are from Hampshire.
Peter Symonds College and Queen Mary’s College respectively will be hoping to overcome some tough matches in their round robin group to meet their local rivals in the final.

Matt Byford, Circuit Director for AEGON Team Tennis Schools commented: “We are looking forward to an exciting weekend of tennis at Bolton Arena. The round robin team format ensures a competitive edge is maintained for all players, especially as match tie-break shootouts draw near. In past matches the players have displayed some excellent tennis, often playing beyond the 7.1 rating they come in with.”
