David Phillipson, Marc McCarroll and Adam Field all won their opening singles matches on Wednesday at their respective ITF 1 Series NEC Wheelchair Tennis Tour events in Korea and the USA.
McCarroll and Phillipson progressed to the men's singles quarter-finals at the Korea Open in Seoul, where fellow Briton John Parfitt also reached the quad doubles semi-finals, while Field reached the quad singles quarter-finals at the Atlanta Open in Georgia.
After a first round British men's No 2 Phillipson put up a confident display to defeat Korea's Sam-Ju Kim 6-1, 6-4 in Seoul. Third seed Phillipson will face French fifth seed Lahcen Majdi in Thursday's quarter-finals. Meanwhile, sixth seed McCarroll produced a highly creditable performance to fend off big-hitting Frenchman David Dalmasso 7-6(5), 6-4 and book his place in the last eight against Japanese top seed and world No 8 Satoshi Saida.
McCarroll and Phillipson are top seeds for the men's doubles and also play their opening match in the event on Thursday against Japanese duo Masahiro Honma and Takuya Miki, while fellow Briton John Parfitt is in quad doubles semi-final action, partnering Israel's Noam Gershony.
Second seeds Parfitt and Gershony defeated the all-Japanese pairing of Mitsuteru Moroishi and Shota Kawano 6-2, 6-4 on Wednesday, to give Parfitt a boost after he lost his quad singles quarter-final to Moroishi 6-4, 6-2. Parfitt and Gershony will play Koreans Myoungsic Nam and Ho Sang Wang in their doubles semi-final.
Field was in quad singles action during Wednesday's first day of play at the Atlanta Open. The world No 16 and fourth seed, who is the only European in his event alongside a host of American and Canadian players, will play his second American opponent in succession on Thursday after defeating David Harrison 6-0, 6-1. Field faces Marc McLean in Thursday's quarter-finals, while he pairs up with American Pani Herath for their opening quad doubles match.
