For the first time ever, British Tennis has this summer offered rewards to both schools and pupils participating in local Mini Tennis Red Schools Competitions.
The Tennis Foundation, in partnership with the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA), has provided these rewards with the aim of inspiring children to play more tennis, more often – in schools and in their communities at a local tennis venue.
Since the launch of these rewards in May 2012:
Over 600 schools have received a 'School Reward', 30 Mini Tennis Red felt balls, 30 Mini Tennis sponge balls and one roll of barrier tape to make it easy to play tennis school halls.
Nearly 4,000 children have received a 'Player Reward', a free Babolat Mini Tennis Racket and Ball set allowing them to continue playing tennis in their local park, tennis club or community venue.
Pupils receiving their free Babolat Mini Tennis Racket and Ball set have also signed up for free, British Tennis Membership, giving them the latest tennis news and information on where they can play tennis locally every month.
Paul Williams, Schools Tennis Manager at the Tennis Foundation, said: "These rewards have allowed us to thank the thousands of teachers across Great Britain who ensure so many young people get the opportunity to experience competitive schools tennis, many for the first time.
"We are delighted to have provided so many young people with their very first tennis racket giving them the equipment and hopefully the inspiration to play tennis at home, at school and in their local community."
The Mini Tennis Red Schools Competitions Rewards were offered as part of official Mini Tennis Red Schools Competitions, which have endorsement locally from the relevant LTA Tennis Development Manager.
The offer will continue to run for a limited time when schools return in the autumn term, allowing those schools that received a Rewards Pack to submit their School Reward and Player Reward Forms.
