Barnet and Southgate College has joined up with it's local tennis club to offer an exciting, new Tennis Educational Academy Programme for 2012-13.
Run in partnership with Hazelwood Lawn Tennis Club, the tennis programme will compliment the successful Football Education Scheme, Athletics Education and Performance Centre and Centre of Rugby Education at the college.
This exciting new opportunity for both and girls aged 16 to 19 gives them the opportunity to train and compete regularly during the week, working with the highly skilled and qualified coaches at Hazelwood LTC to improve their own tennis performance.
In addition, students will hone their skills and knowledge for a possible future career in the game as a coach or other tennis professional, or to give them the platform to perform at a higher level during any future university studies.
Students within this scheme will represent the College in all relevant and eligible competitions and events, in addition to having opportunities for selection to the Hazelwood Club teams (although participation at any existing clubs is welcomed and encouraged).
Students will also receive full-time education at Barnet and Southgate College. All of the lessons will take place at the Southgate Campus, with training and games a short distance away at Hazelwood LTC within their range of indoor and outdoor court and fitness facilities.
Subject to academic acceptance onto the course, all students with some tennis experience are welcome to apply. An interest and or desire to pursue a career in tennis is desirable.
