Over the coming months more than 45,000 pupils are anticipated to compete in school tennis competitions with each of the winners of the Year 3&4 Mini Tennis Red Competition Local Authority Finals within a county area come through to compete at the Level 3 County wide-festivals.
"Our kids have had a brilliant time visiting the School Games at the Olympic Park today and it was brilliant for them to get the chance to play tennis in between watching the action,” said Kelly Wallis from Barrow Hedges Primary School, Surrey.
“We were delighted to work with The Youth Sport Trust as a demonstration sport within the common domain area of the inaugural Sainsbury’s 2012 School Games,” added the Tennis Foundation’s Schools Tennis Manager Paul Williams.
“We welcomed the opportunity provided by the Trust for more National Governing Bodies to become involved and to highlight our sport to even more children ahead of the hundreds of local schools tennis competitions that will take place over the coming weeks and months. Giving young people the opportunity to compete, volunteer and spectate in the Olympic Park ahead of their idols this summer ensured it was a special occasion for all involved.”
