University Tennis Coordinator positions now available

University Tennis Coordinator positions are now available across the country for post-graduate students who want to get involved in tennis.

The programme funds part-time tennis coordinator positions in universities, with the aim of helping more students and staff to play tennis. The positions are jointly funded by the Tennis Foundation and the university and this year will see over 20 universities across the country with a University Tennis Coordinator.

With resources for schools and colleges already successfully implemented, the Tennis Foundation is now able to provide resources and development awards for universities, with the aim of growing the game by creating more opportunities for students to play and compete.

Key to the Tennis Foundation's University Strategy is The Guide to University Tennis (PDF, 1Mb, Opens in a new window) , a resource aimed at student tennis clubs and sports development staff working within universities to provide an overview of all the resources and support available to the Higher Education sector.

The Tennis Foundation's Higher Education Manager, Alistair Higham said: "The University Tennis Coordinator role is all about developing university tennis and involves working closely with the Tennis Foundation and LTA. With training at the National Tennis Centre and ongoing support, these roles are ideal for anyone who wants to take a first step towards the tennis industry."

The positions are listed on the right and all have different deadlines so please keep checking back on the UTC page for more information.

Impact of University Tennis Coordinator Programme

The universities have been delighted with the programme and the positive impact they have had.

As well as seeing numbers consistently rise, Quentin Sloper who manages the position at Durham said that the programme had “added a massive amount of vibrancy to the tennis programme and completely transformed what the university does in tennis.”

Will McNally who manages the position at Exeter, said that numbers with the University Club had risen from 200 to 320 members in three months. Equally, the coordinators themselves are really enjoying their positions and can see a way forward with a career in tennis.

Emma Bennett from Bath said “It’s really given me the opportunity to get into the recreational side of tennis and I really love the role.”
