Schools Tennis Road Show 2013 kicks off in Bolton

The Schools Tennis Road Show has started this week in Bolton before visiting 15 other venues across Great Britain across February and March.

The Road Show, which is run by the Tennis Foundation and is free to attend, aims to provide an overview of all the resource and support available to schools, together with practical ideas for delivering tennis in an education environment.

The Road Show is primarily targeted at the school sport infrastructure including School Games Organisers, School Sport Partnership staff and CSP representatives in England, Active Schools Managers and Co-ordinators in Scotland, and PESS, Dragon Sport and 5 x 60 staff in Wales. In addition, teachers who deliver tennis or PE are welcome to attend.

This year's Road Show will feature information on the new Cardio Tennis Teacher Resource, the new Sainsbury's School Games Inclusive Mini Tennis Red format as well as an overview of the teacher training, resources and equipment available through the Aegon Schools Tennis programme.

David Parry, Tennis Development Officer for Lancashire LTA said, "We're delighted to host the first Schools Tennis Road Show for 2013 in the North West. There are lots of teachers delivering some great tennis activity across the county already but it's always really beneficial for them to hear about the latest support and resources that's available from the Tennis Foundation / LTA through the Aegon Schools Tennis programme."

This year's attendees will also receive a comprehensive package of resources to support them to attend, including a £50 Schools Tennis equipment voucher, a free top up equipment pack of balls and barrier tape and entry into a prize draw to win a pair of tickets to a British tennis major event in 2013.

The 2012 Road Show was attended by 602 people and a huge 98.7% rated their experience as 'good' or 'excellent'.

Paul Williams, Schools Tennis Manager at the Tennis Foundation, said, "The Schools Tennis Road gives us a great opportunity to interact with the school sport infrastructure and teachers that are fundamental in giving young people a positive, first experience of tennis in schools across Great Britain.

"Through the Aegon Schools Tennis programme the Tennis Foundation and LTA have supported over 15,000 schools, trained 26,000 teachers and last year saw over 46,000 young people taking part in schools tennis competitions so there's never been a better time to get involved!"
