Gordon Reid saw the curtain come down on his first Grand Slam final after a narrow loss to top seeds and men's singles finalists Stephane Houdet and Shingo Kunieda.
In a rematch of last November's Doubles Masters, second seeds Reid and Dutchman Ronald Vink won the last three games of the opening set to take the lead, just as they had done against Houdet and Kunieda in the men's doubles final in Amsterdam at the end of 2012.
But Doubles Masters champions Houdet and Kunieda built on a 3-1 second set lead and then recovered from 4-3 down in the championship tiebreak to clinch the second of four match points for a 3-6, 6-4, (10-6) victory.
While it was Houdet and Kunieda's second Roland Garros title as a partnership, having also triumphed in 2010, Reid can look back on his first Roland Garros with great pride.
He won his first singles match at a Grand Slam to reach the men's singles semi-finals, where he was only edged out in two close sets by the two-time champion Houdet, and reached his first Grand Slam final.
Britain now has two Grand Slam doubles finallsts this year after Lucy Shuker was also a finalist in the women's doubles at the Australian Open.
