The Schools Tennis Road Show 2013 came to end this week at the National Tennis Centre, the 16th stop on the tour which has seen over 500 people find out more about Schools Tennis.

The Road Show, which is run by the Tennis Foundation and is free to attend, aims to provide an overview of all the resource and support available to schools, together with practical ideas for delivering tennis in an education environment.

Feedback so far shows that 99% of attendees rated the Road Show as good or excellent while 100% said that it had inspired them to develop tennis further in their school or area.

The Road Show is primarily targeted at the school sport infrastructure including School Games Organisers, School Sport Partnership staff and CSP representatives in England, Active Schools Managers and Co-ordinators in Scotland, and PESS, Dragon Sport and 5 x 60 staff in Wales. In addition, teachers who deliver tennis or PE are welcome to attend.

This year's Road Show featured information on the new Cardio Tennis Teacher Resource, the new Inclusive Tennis Teacher Resource as well as an overview of the teacher training, resources and equipment available through the Aegon Schools Tennis programme.

Sean Davies, PE Teacher at Bishop Challoner College in Birmingham said: "Today we had a go at different activities including Cardio Tennis and inclusive tennis as well as looking at ways to deliver more tennis in our schools. When I go back into school I will definitely set up a Cardio Tennis club and deliver more tennis in lessons to improve the pupils abilities."

Simon Long, Chief Commercial Officer for the LTA, added: "It was great to attend the Schools Tennis Road Show in Hatfield. It was a fantastic day with a really good turnout from across the local counties. We learnt about Cardio Tennis as well as how to get kids in schools more involved in tennis. I think we all went away pumped up about how we can take tennis to a wider community, both followers and players, and the role it can play in getting more pupils more active."

This year's attendees also received a comprehensive package of resources to support them to attend, including a £50 Schools Tennis equipment voucher, a free top up equipment pack of balls and barrier tape and entry into a prize draw to win a pair of tickets to a British tennis major event in 2013.
