Aegon Schools Tennis wins Education Resources Award

The Aegon Schools Tennis Programme has won the 'Best Secondary Resource non-ICT' award at the British Educational Suppliers Association Education Resources Awards.

British Tennis' schools programme, run by the Tennis Foundation in partnership with the LTA, was the only nomination to reach the finals across the whole PE and school sport landscape and was shortlisted in two categories; Secondary Schools and Special Schools.

The Education Resources Awards highlight the quality and diversity of educational products and resources, excellent educational establishments and the most dedicated members of the teaching profession and suppliers industry, all working together to encourage the very best in education.

Now in their 15th successful year, what makes these Awards different is that they focus on the resources, services and people that make a practical impact on learning and the day-to-day work of the teachers in the classroom.

"We are delighted that Aegon Schools Tennis has been recognised again and would like to thank all the teachers and pupils that helped develop the secondary school resource and make sure that it meets the needs of staff and learners. The programme has, and will continue, to play an important role in helping more young people play tennis, many of which for the first time," said Paul Williams, Schools Tennis Manager at the Tennis Foundation.

"As the Lead Partner of British Tennis, we're proud that Aegon Schools Tennis is getting the recognition it deserves. Our congratulations to everyone involved at the LTA and Tennis Foundation in delivering such a fantastic programme, and our thanks to all the pupils and teachers who have helped make the programme such a success," added Graham Sneddon, Senior Sponsorship Manager at Aegon.

Since 2009, Aegon Schools Tennis has supported more than half the schools across Great Britain with free teacher training, resources and free equipment.

These nominations come after Aegon Schools Tennis recently won sports coach UK's 'Coaching Intervention of the Year' and The London Youth Games 'Community Partner of the Year', as well as being short-listed for the Euopean Sponsorship Agency's Excellence Awards and The Hollis Sponsorship Awards.
