Entry is now open for the National Deaf Tennis Championships, which will take place at Gosling High Performance Tennis Centre from May 3rd to 5th.
The annual tournament will feature men's and women's singles events along with a doubles competition as the country's top hearing impaired players descend upon Welwyn Garden City.
Last year saw Lewis and Catherine Fletcher secure a husband-and-wife double at the event, winning the men's and women's singles and doubles titles between them.
The duo were part of Great Britain's team of seven players that came back from the 12th European Deaf Tennis Championships last summer with a total of five medals.
Deaf tennis has a long history in British tennis and playing the sport requires no adaption bar communication. Many players compete in mainstream tournaments, but can also represent their country at the Deaflympics, European and World Championships, as well as the Dresse and Maere Cup at the performance level.
Entry is restricted to players eligible to represent Great Britain under ITF rules and hearing loss should be 55 decibels or more in the best ear following International Committee of Sports for the Deaf rules.
To provide opportunities for everyone to get involved this year there will be a junior event as well as come and try sessions for hearing impaired people of any age to give tennis a go.
Entry is free to spectators and you can view the tournament poster here (PDF, opens in new window).
