Stuart Brown has won the December Aegon Coach of the Month award after the great work he has done in setting up a new tennis club in Tranent, East Lothian.
More than 50 players are now on the programme at Forester Park while Stuart, by helping to grow other clubs in the area, has been instrumental in attracting over £600,000 of investment into local projects.
This includes 13 new or improved floodlit courts across the region. Other notable successes for Stuart have been his involvement in co-ordinating local school activities and delivering Tennis on the Road with Judy Murray.
On receiving the award, Stuart said: “I am really delighted to receive this award. I feel really lucky and I would like to thank the hardworking people at the clubs I work with and also the fantastic coaches I have been lucky enough to learn from.
“In East Lothian, we have been working on a few projects over the last couple of years and all being well we should have new facilities in place before the summer which will allow tennis to grow and flourish for a generation and beyond.
“If I had to pick something I most enjoy most about coaching it would be having a positive impact on people’s lives. Tennis is great but getting to know people and being able to have a positive impact on them – that is where the big reward is."
