Oli Jones presented with his award by Nick Weal, NTC Lead Coach Men's Tennis, at the National Tennis Centre in Roehampton.
Oli Jones has won the AEGON Coach of the Month award for January.
Oli Jones coaches at Brooklands Tennis Club in Cheshire and works predominantly with junior players.
In his time with Brooklands, Oli has increased regularly competing juniors to over 150 and has doubled the junior membership of the club from 100 to an excess of 200.
Caroline Yates, a parent of one of the players Oli coaches commented; "He has a great ability to relate to the kids and get the most out of them in a fun way without them realizing that they are learning. For us, he shone out as an example of how to interact with children and drew comments to this affect from other parents watching from many different clubs."
Oli has successfully managed to maintain the club’s coaching programme by finding alternative indoor venues during the winter and has set up close connections with Birchwood Tennis Centre to gain access to indoor sessions for his better players.
Oli has worked for the LTA on numerous county and regional ID days and continually supports his players at tournaments. He is captain for the Cheshire 12 & Under boys and Cheshire 14 & Under boys for the summer County Cup at Bolton and Wrexham respectively and his junior teams have won two AEGON Team Tennis titles in the County Division.
Oli has also been nominated for other notable accolades. He was proposed for Sports Coach of the Year for Trafford and for Participation Coach of the Year at the Sports Coach UK Awards.
Caroline Yates also added; “Oli has coached my son, for three and a half years. He had never picked up a racket when he started and the transformation, through Oli’s hard work and commitment to him, has been amazing.”
