Andy Murray reached the quarter-finals of the French Open after defeating Spain's Fernando Verdasco 6-4, 7-5, 7-6(3).
Murray, who has reached his 19th grand slam quarter-final, looked on course for a comfortable victory leading Verdasco 6-4, 7-5, 4-2 before the Spaniard fought back to take the third set to a tie-break. Murray weathered the storm and won four points in a row at 3-3 to claim the match and a quarter-final tie against France's Gael Monfils.

Katie Boulter moved into round two of the girls' singles after a 6-1, 3-6, 6-3 victory over American Raveena Kingsley.
In the doubles Isabelle Wallace & Samir (EGY) fell to No.2 seeds Hon (AUS) & Teichmann (SUI) 7-6(4), 6-4 in the first round.
