Andy Murray reached French Open semi-finals after a five set victory over France's No.23 seed Gael Monfils.
Murray, who has made the last four at Roland Garros for the first time since 2011, looked on course for a straight sets win when he took the second set 6-1. But Monfils got the crowd going and fought back to win the third and then dominated the fourth set to take the match into a decider.
The start of the fifth started after a conversation between Murray and the referee with the Brit clearly thinking the match should have finished for the night. With the momentum with the Frenchman Murray called on all his experience and skill to hold serve and then turn the match around breaking Monfils' serve. From that point there was only one winner with Murray closing out the match 6-4, 6-1, 4-6, 1-6, 6-0.
Speaking after the match, Murray said: "I started well, when the wind calmed down he started playing so much better...some of the shots he chased down were incredible. I was just lucky in the end that he started the fifth set badly."
