Andy Murray wins marathon five set match at French Open

Andy Murray moved into the fourth round of the French Open after winning a five set marathon with German Philipp Kohlschreiber 3-6, 6-3, 6-3, 4-6, 12-10 that lasted two days.

Murray, who faces Spain's Fernando Verdasco in the fourth round, looked on course to close out the match on Saturday night when leading 4-2 in the fourth set only for Kohlschreiber to win four games in row to take the match into a deciding set. Bad light halted play with the scores tied at 7-7 and when play resumed on Sunday it was Murray who gained the crucial break to take the match.

Speaking after the match, Murray said: "I think considering the circumstances it was pretty high standard. It's obviously very tough. I didn't sleep much and I woke up quite a few times. I was ready to play at four, five in the morning. I was very nervous. It's not easy coming back at 7-7."
