James Ward will play in the main draw of the French Open for the first time in his career as he defeated Slovakian Blaz Rola in the final round of qualifying on Friday.
Ward, who is the first man to qualify for the men’s singles at Roland Garros since John Lloyd in 1973, overcame the qualifying fourth seed 4-6, 6-4, 12-10 in 161 minutes.
Heather Watson moved into the final round of qualifying after coming from a set down to defeat Ukrainian Kateryna Kozlova 4-6, 6-2, 7-5.
Johanna Konta also faced a Ukrainian in Yuliya Beygelzimer but ended on the wrong side of the result losing 6-7(5), 7-5, 6-0 in the final round of qualifying.
Dan Cox fell in round two of men's qualifying after falling to top seed Paolo Lorenzi 6-3, 7-6(4).
Roland Garros Draw
Andy Murray will play Kazakhstan's Andrey Golubev in the first round of the French Open, with champion Rafael Nadal in the same half of the draw.
Murray, seeded seventh, has faced Golubev once before, beating him 6-1, 6-1 on the hard courts of St Petersburg in 2008.
