Top tennis star, Annabel Croft revealed that British No.1, Heather Watson, will compete at this year’s Aegon Classic in Birmingham in June. The announcement came as tickets went on sale for the UK’s most prestigious ladies-only international tennis tournament, taking place at the Edgbaston Priory Club, from 9 to 16 June.

Opening the phone lines, Annabel confirmed Heather Watson’s attendance at the Aegon Classic, which will see her compete against some of the world’s best players. In recent years the tournament has attracted world-class players including Maria Sharapova, Li Na and Laura Robson.

Declaring the ticket lines open, Annabel Croft said: “It’s an honour to be launching the ticket lines for the Aegon Classic this year. People mainly talk about men’s tennis, especially with Andy Murray having such great success, but it’s female tennis that is really on the radar at the moment. We’re all captivated by the UK’s rising stars such as Heather Watson, Laura Robson and Johanna Konta.

“I’ve had a great time at the Edgbaston Priory Club and have been shown the incredible facilities, thanks to the recent re-developments. I’ve even had a sneak preview of the new sunken Centre Court, which looks fantastic.”

Offering a chance to see first-rate tennis from some of the top female tennis players from around the world, the Aegon Classic is a major must-see tournament played on outdoor grass courts, in the lead up to The Championships, Wimbledon.

Tickets are now on sale and are available from www.aegonclassic.co.uk/tickets. Prices start from just £10 on Monday 10 June and go up to £30 on finals day. Tickets for the Centre Court Grand Opening, on Sunday 9 June, and Ladies Day on Thursday 13 June, were also released today.
