Henman / Watson v Rusedski / Cirstea
Tim Henman and Greg Rusedski take to the court once again today in a celebratory mixed-doubles match at 1pm to mark the opening of the brand new centre court at Edgbaston Priory Club before the tournament gets into full swing.
The new centre court, which is named after local tennis legend Ann Jones, will see Henman team up with British star Heather Watson, while Rusedski plays with Romanian world No.30 Sorana Cirstea in front of a sold out crowd.
Patrick Hughesman, Tournament Director of the Aegon Classic said: “We are delighted that Tim and Greg, alongside Heather and Sorana, will be some of the first players to grace our centre court. It promises to be the start of a great week of world class tennis in Birmingham.”
Offering a chance to see first rate tennis, the Aegon Classic is one of the UK’s major tournaments ahead of The Championships, Wimbledon, returning to Birmingham’s Edgbaston Priory Club for the 32nd year.
