Daniela Hantuchova won a hard fought 6-7(8), 6-4, 7-6(3) encounter against Francesca Schiavone that lasted three hours and 22 minutes in the quarter-finals of the Aegon Classic on Friday.
In a fiercely competitive match on the Ann Jones Centre Court, 2011 Aegon Classic runner-up Hantuchova came back from a set down to overcome the former French Open Champion.
“I never gave up and I keep fighting for every point," said Hantuchova after the match. "On grass everything can change so quickly. Francesca is such a great competitor as well, so I think we were both enjoying the battle and we have so much respect for each other so it’s always nice to play this kind of match”
Hantuchova, who received treatment during the match for a leg strain, was trailing 3-0 in the final match tie-break before winning seven consecutive points to edge the win.
Hantuchova will play the winner of American qualifier Alison Riske or Germany’s Sabine Lisicki in the semi-finals on Saturday.

In the final match of the day, bad light suspended play between American qualifier Alison Riske and Sabine Lisicki of Germany at 7-6(2), 2-6, 2-2.
Riske and Lisicki will complete their quarter-final at 11.30am on Court 1. The winner will play again, against Hantuchova, in the second scheduled match on the Ann Jones Centre Court.
