Top seed Kirsten Flipkens was taken the distance on the Ann Jones Centre Court by qualifier Aijla Tomljanovic coming through 4-6, 6-4, 7-5 to seal her place in round three of the Aegon Classic.

Speaking after the match, Flipkens said: "I think it is not easy to go into a second round if you have a  bye in the first round, some people think it is an advantage, I think not.

She [Tomljanovic] played really well today we had a really tough battle in Miami and it was another tough on today. I am just happy to get through because she is a really tough player."
