What better player to lead a stellar line-up on Ladies’ Day than Daniela Hantuchova, who always brings a touch of glamour to the court. Earlier this week the Slovakian modelled some stunning dresses for Ladies’ Day and she likes to turn on the style on the court too.
Hantuchova may need to dig deep today in her meeting with Kristina Mladenovic, for the 12th seed is a big hitter. Expect precise and powerful hitting from both.
While all the players will require plenty of poise, a little posing may be in order for the Ladies’ Day crowd. Celebrity judge Michelle Heaton will be handing out a prize for the best dressed spectator, a host of big brands will also be creating a shoppers’ paradise away from the court and don’t forget to enjoy a glass or two of champagne in the Moët tent.
Judy Murray will also be holding a special coaching clinic with some of the country’s best young female players and coaches. Ladies’ Day is a special mixture of fashion, entertainment and world class sport - all in support of Ladies Fighting Breast Cancer.
Riské on Ladies’ Day
Alison Riske hails from Florida but she must feel at home here, for the 22-yearold American simply loves the grass courts of the Aegon Classic. She has already won her way through qualifying to go on to reach the third round here and today she faces another qualifier in Russian Alla Kudryavtseva.
Watson & Dushevina
Heather Watson and Russian partner Vera Dushevina saw their scheduled match against Mona Barthel and Kristina Mladenovic postponed by rain yesterday afternoon. Today it gives British fans a chance to cheer on Watson and provides an unexpected but very welcome addition to an already outstanding roster of matches on Ladies’ Day.
