The first match of the day saw Laura Robson & Lisa Raymond lose their first round Aegon Classic doubles match 6-4, 6-2 against Cara Black & Marina Erakovic.

In the early cold and blustery conditions on the Ann Jones Centre Court, Robson and her American partner Raymond struggled with the power of Black & Erakovic’s first serves.

Robson, who received a bye into round two of the singles, will face Daniela Hantuchova after the Slovakian's 6-1, 7-6(1) win over Australian wildcard Casey Dellacqua.

“I’m very happy to be back on the grass," said 19 year-old Robson. "I’ve lost to Daniela a couple of times. Obviously it’s a couple of years since I’ve played her but she’s a very tough player on grass. It will be a tough match."

Speaking about her form over the last year, Robson commented: "I think generally everything has improved a little bit since I was here last year. I thought I served very well today in the doubles. I’m just going to go out there tomorrow with a lot of confidence on the court and try and play my best.”
