Play was delayed at the Aegon Classic on Thursday as heavy rainfall, starting at 12.30pm and continuing for the majority of the afternoon hindered the tennis at the Edgbaston Priory Club.
Only one match finished before the rain set in as American Madison Keys took out the German sixth seed Mona Bartethel 6-3, 6-2 in just under an hour.
Slovakian Daniela Hantuchova was trailing 6-3, 3-3, 40-0 to 12th seed Kristina Mladenovic when all matches were suspended.
Play is due to resume at 3.45pm.
While the rain stopped the tennis, Ladies’ Day at the Aegon Classic was still in full swing.
A host of big brands created a shoppers’ paradise away from the court, while Judy Murray held a special coaching clinic with some of the country’s best young female players and coaches.
Celebrity judge Michelle Heaton will also be handing out a prize for the best dressed spectator later in the day.
Ladies’ Day is a special mixture of fashion, entertainment and world class sport - all in support of Ladies Fighting Breast Cancer.
